Teacher Only Day:

Reminder…

On Friday 9 March, we will be holding the first of two Te Kahui Ako o Reporoa – Community of Learning Teacher Only Days at Reporoa College. (NOTE: Reporoa Primary School will be CLOSED!)

All of our teaching staff, Principal and Teachers’ Aides will be involved along with staff from Broadlands, Reporoa College, Lake Rerewhakaaitu and Mihi.

One of our CoL’s ‘Achievement Challenges’ prioritises the lifting of oral language skills from Early Childhood through to Year 13.

We look forward to sharing more information with you as to how we will be achieving this goal through specific teaching and learning activities in 2018.

As a school we would like to acknowledge all of our wonderful parents who help us in so many different ways. You are a very special community! If you have any ideas on how to contribute to the school, please don’t be afraid to approach me and have a discussion about it – I am very open to new ideas!

Reminder: Water or Milk only please!

Lately several children have been bringing energy drinks or juice to school and drinking it before school. This gives some children a sugar high and makes it difficult for the teacher to manage their learning in class. At Reporoa Primary School we allow water or milk as drink. Please respect this and only send water or milk to school.

Outdoor Classroom:

Monday evening saw the Waiotapu Scout Troop mucking in and doing a grand job weeding along the river bank area and feeding and weeding around the four pear trees. Mel Manning and her team organised the construction of compost bins to be used to process some of our waste.
Our usual team of heavy lifters (Susannah, Heather, Kyle & Madelein Brennnan family, Monk family, Leslie family, Collins family, Crafar family, Marshall family & Guyton family) have donated much of their time over the previous two weekends and also during the holidays to bring our outdoor classroom to order. It has been a huge effort on their part and we need to have more people volunteering to ‘muck in’. You do not need to be a gardener to help. Even as little as half an hour is appreciated and makes a difference. I will be inserting a public acknowledgement in the Roundabout for our Scout Group thanking these families who have their children attending schools all round the region. Look out for our next ‘mucking in’ session as we have mulch arriving this week and will need willing hands to spread this over our beautiful plants. Please text me on 027 366 9867 about how you can help out and also suggestions of timings that would work for you – we don’t have to use weekends. Thanks from Susannah and the Team.

You may have noticed that we have been very sporty lately, taking advantage of a number of extra programmes available to our school. The children have been enjoying swimming support with Sammy and Felicity from Youthtown, ‘Go4It’ through Sport BOP with Stephanie, and cricket skills.
