Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa – warm greetings to everyone

Welcome to week 9 of term 2. We have a lot going on for the rest of the term. Make sure you read the newsletter to keep up to date!

Cultural Festival:

We were all very proud of our tamariki on Friday. What an outstanding job they did! I would like to acknowledge the work of Matua Grant and Kerera Hohua in getting our children to the standard that they performed at on stage. This took a lot of time and effort. The tamariki also gave it their all and performed at 100%. I had several comments from other principals congratulating me on the excellent standard we showed in both performance and behaviour. I’M A VERY PROUD PRINCIPAL!

NZEI Paid Union Meetings:

Reminder – the staff will be at paid union meetings this Thursday afternoon and the school will not have many staff  left at school. You were sent a notice about this on Monday. Please try to make arrangements for your children or advise the office that they need to stay at school. Click the link below to see a copy of the newsletter.

Newsletter about Paid Union Meeting

Uniform:

The uniform committee will have a range of samples available for you to look at and vote on in the last week of school. They will be available in the library for you to vote on your preferences. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR SAY! Teachers will remind you to go and look after your SLC (student led conference).

Special Visitor:

On Monday my Aunty (Val Mills) visted us in assembly. She had her very first teaching post at Reporoa Primary School in 1968. That’s 50 years ago! She enjoyed meeting the children and talking to them about the changes in this school between then and now.

Reporting to parents:

You may be aware that at the end of last year the Labour Government announced the end of National Standards in the education system. This change does not effect the reporting to parents twice a year. Your child’s report will come home on Friday the 29th June. The National Standards wording has been removed from the report and we have added an Oral Language section, as this is our focus for improvement this year through our teaching inquiries.

The following week, week 10, we will be running our SLC’s (Student Learning Conferences).

SLC’s will be held on

Tuesday 03 July 2018 3:30 – 5:30pm

and

Thursday 05 July 2018 1:30 – 6:30pm

(Please note, classes will not be in session on the Thursday afternoon, please make arrangements for your children so that teachers can conduct their SLC’s. Classes will finish at 12:40)
