Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa – warm greetings to everyone

Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day:

You will be aware that on Monday 12 September Cabinet agreed to introduce legislation

to implement a one-off public holiday to recognise and celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth

II. This public holiday, the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day, will take place on Monday

26 September 2022. Reporoa School will be closed on next Monday for this reason.

Kahui Ako Day:

You will be aware from past notices that we are having a Kahui Ako Day for staff learning on Friday the 30th September. This is where teachers and teacher aides from Reporoa College, Reporoa Primary, Broadlands, Upper Atiamuri, Lake Rerewhakaaitu, and Galatea will come together to learn, connect and collaborate. We are hosting this day of learning at Reporoa Primary.

Because we are hosting this day, we will be onsite. While your child’s teacher will not be available to work with them, we can accomodate children if you are unable to find alternative arrangements for them. Please let us know and we will assist with a 9am – 3pm programme.

Stars of the week:

Ka rawe te mahi to our Kaiarahi Leaders Rico, Olivia, Greer, and Braxton for learning the protocols of putting our NZ flag up and taking it down again. They do this everyday. Last week it was flying half mast in respect for the Queen’s passing.

Playground:

We are super excited to have our new playground! It looks amazing. There are some Health and Safety checks, more bark yet to be put in and some education for the students so it is still roped off. Please respect this and keep your children off the playground until the barrier has been taken down. We will have a proper opening on Tuesday next week.

How to help your child when they are feeling angry:

We have been finding that many of our boys are struggling with their feelings. They find it difficult to self regulate and manage their angry feelings. Often the way we respond has an impact on their ability to calm down. Here are some tips for you at home to have empathy and develop a stronger connection to support your tamariki.

Pet Day:

Message from the Board:

The board would like to give a very big thank you to everyone who has raised money or contributed in some way to the new playground. Thank you to NZCT, Pub Charities, the students who raised money through the Fun Run, and Phillip Berry – Rural Real Estate. A special mention to Mia-Marie Selwyn who raised the most money with a whopping $805!
We are super excited to finally have it finished and are looking forward to opening it once it has had it’s final safety inspection.
